I'm unsure as to how the magnetic field generators would work, but on the subject of energy, TNE starships can easily generate GW outputs in a reasonably small package. It may even be possible to use the radiation, which has an electric charge, to generate electricity for the base.
Of course, you have to wonder what the purpose of the base is.
Another question would be, can ships operate in the area with: no problems, with precautions, or need special modifications?
