OK Scott, here goes, but fair warning, this could be a case of the blind teaching the blind (it only took me 9 months to figure out what the www stood for, I'm still working on the http).
I sent in a file with my work on the Alpha C sector so far (work in progress alert), sorry but your earliest question caught me in mid step. The data is good for the eight coreward subsectors.. It took me an even dozen tries till I fond that this format works, don't know why don't know why it does and the other attempts didn't, but it does work. I did this on some function called a notebook (not sure everyone has this function or I just got lucky with my computer)..
I go to The Traveller Map and on the upper right is several icons. Tap the ? icon. On the drop down screen go to Booklet Maker-Poster Maker. I used the Poster Maker to do up the Lazzerton subsector map I sent in. From here just copy and paste the data file into the upper box. This will give you the map. The second box is for the metadata (trade routes, government boarders and the like).
Two things you should note: In the place under the notes where Ag, Ni would go there are double -- for some worlds. I found that map poster will not recognize a world unless there is some kind of place holder in this location so -- seemed to be a fairly benign choice. The second thing is the A and R for amber and red worlds does not get accepted and is actually ignored by the poster maker. I do not know why this is so but with the Traveller's Aid Society gone this is a relatively mute point and I just ignore it.
For the bottom box where you cut and paste in the metadata. You have to be fairly carful. If you have one thing out of place the metadata will be rejected. Before I got it to work I typed in a (') instead of a (") and got rejected. Once I figured out where I goofed it ran smooth as silk.
Once you get the world data file dropped into place the poster maker is very user friendly and lets you play with some interesting options. Jump maps where you can choose the radius, full sector maps or subsectors, colored printer friendly or color on black (very not printer friendly), candy and if you want the UPP data on the map, that to can be done.
Until you get it to work I would save time by just typing up three of four worlds and try to install them into the poster maker. Once it works out you can go on from there.
