AN-94 Assault Rifle

The AN-94 is the latest Russian assault rifle, and it is intended that it will replace the AK-74 in service as money becomes availible. It is rated by Jane's Infantry Weapons 1998-99 as the most advanced infantry rifle in service, thus placing it as mid to late TL8 (depending on your view of our current tech level). Like the now defunct G11 (the most advanced infantry rifle made to this point) the AN-94 has a three round burst system that gives a much higher than cyclic rate of fire for the burst. In the AN-94's case the ROF for the burst is 1800 rpm. As a result when firing three round bursts the first burst is not effected by recoil modifiers, although its recoil is still counted when determining the recoil penalty for any other bursts fired during the round. Add an extra Cr150 to the weapon price and 0.1kg to all weights to add the optional optical sight.
