Headquarters: Corfinium/Atsah/Deneb
Overview: The Corvine Raiders are the descendants of human and Vargr privateers that served the so called "Corsairs Alliance" formed following Corridor's conquest by the Vargr states of Provence Sector. The Alliance was allegedly set up by survivors of the sector government that had made it to relative safety on Ginning/Lemish (Corridor 2108), and used purloined funds to hire various corsair groups as mercenaries against their former employers. Most of the corsair lagers hired were mixed human-vargr forces, or human mercs unemployed by the invasion.
The Corvines were the farthest ranging of these groups, operating in Strand and Khukish against Vargr merchant shipping. For ten years the group managed to slip around enemy escorts and patrols, and racked up a very impressive kill list. The advent of virus caused them to retreat to Ikhur/Ian (Corridor 0611) and they occasionally raided as far as the Regency Frontier. Most of their forays brought them into contact with the stranded soldiers of Corfinium, who fought back savagely against the Raiders attempts at depriving them of precious supplies. They remained an independent force until 1153, when increased Vampire incursions from coreward, and repeated Star Guard punitive expeditions from Drayne deprived them of their base. The shattered force appeared on Corfinium and asked their former enemies for sanctuary. To the Raiders suprise, it was accepted honorably, and they were incorporated into the Corfinium Corps after a brief period of detention and indoctrination as the Corps space forces.
Since that day, remembered as the "Trading of Blades," the Raiders have become a legitimate military force. The Regency of Deneb used their extensive knowledge base of Corridor to extend operations into the spinward subsectors, and to provide guides and scouts for various diplomatic and recon missions. Their consistent loyalty has been repaid several times over, with the Regency bestowing several surplus TL-14 warships upon the group, and providing free maintenance at their sprawling yard on Errogel. The Raiders a primarily a military force, and provide both light escort and recon services to the Iron Butterflies and the RQS.
Organisational Data: The Raiders have followed Imperial Navy organisation since their inception. Three basic divisions exist: Combat, Support and Logistics. The combat branch is organised as a squadron, with seperate bureaucratic divisions for each particular type of unit, such as patrol and escort. The support branch handles training of new crew, intel gathering and provides diplomatic support for both the Corfinium Corps and the Regency Quarantine Service. Logistics handles resupply, salvage and base support and construction. The Corps provides ships troops and marines that serve aboard the Raider vessels, as well as heavy construction and demolitions units. The commander of the Raiders holds the rank of commodore, and is nominally independent of the Corps, but the level of integration between the two groups is so complete that the option of independent command has rarely been put into practice.

Special missions to other worlds, particularly Drayne, are carried out at the request of the Regency government, but these are rare, especially given the bad blood between the Raiders and the Star Guard.
